Eric, this is terrible news. I was extremely methodical, particular and anal when it came to building that engine. Everything was built to FSM specs using the highest quality parts available. When I started and even when I finished that project I never had intentions of selling it. That engine never missed a beat during the 3500 or so miles I drove it. The ONLY hiccup I ever had was with the IACV, I disassembled it to clean out the carbon and I never could get it to idle as low as it should have been. I guess the factory puts red epoxy over the adjustments for a reason.

Anyways, this makes me sick because I wish I had never sold it. I have tried to find another 240 that was as clean as that one and I haven't been able to find one half as nice. Please don't hack up a pristine example of a stockish 240. If the stock head and valves could provide enough flow that engine could have produced 500hp, the bottom end limited by the hardware on the eagle rods.

Very interested to see and hear what is going on. Please post high quality pictures when you can. I called and left you a message and sent you a PM.

Sorry about going dark. Almost sold the 240 but then i came to my senses . The ka popped. Learned alot about the motor since I got her. In process of ripping her out. Aquired sr turbo and injectors. Chipping ecu via daughterboard. Have manifold ,downpipe, piping and intercooler aswell. I'll know what went on the motor soon. Rear end was welded, front and rear sways added. Replaced tension rods. Found a set of z32 rears have not installed yet. Have 5 lug hubs and poopy rims to move it with for now. Ac delete. Clutch line relocation and black box o doom delete. Have a seat and rails need to work out some kinks with that. Also have lm7 v8 (iron block alum heads) motor now I've been dicking with. I'll try to get some pics for you. Braden if you see this please send phone #.

Eric,  read the section on camshafts, Corky will guide you.  You might find a ka24det group and see what others have done.  I personally would buy Tomei, they have recently done a lot of development on the dual cam KA.  For a snail I would look @ a GT3076R, there are several turbine housing available with different response curves.   The gt3076 will put you into the 350-400 HP range. Better get an LSD!!!!

I'm balls deep in. I will start by collecting parts. I understand the extent of the project and will not cut corners. Hp goals are reliable 300 give or take. you had mentioned that a disco potato would be too small so can you guys suggest some Garrett turbo models to aim for? Thanks for replys I'll try to get corkys book!

What are your HP goals?    As long as that stock head can flow enough, then the limitations of the engine are governed by the rod bolts.  They will suffice to the 500hp mark assuming your engine management is doing its part.  I built it for boost.  The rings were gapped for boost.  I would say 300-350 for many many miles would be very possible for around $5000  (rough estimate).  I can tell you that if you are serious about this than you had better be serious throughout the whole project.  Any junk parts from ebay and or universal crap will destroy your project. There is a reason that crap is cheap. I suggest you pick up Maximum Boost by corky bell.  Read it, re read it.  Talk to Garrett honeywell (tech line), and start saving and planning.  This wont be a weekend project, and there will be bugs. You will need access to a dynamometer and someone much more knowledgable than I  on engine management.  I know a good guy in Pennsylvania but you will need to be able to trailer the car there for some dyno runs.  Do a local search on tuning shops and research their credentials. Out for now.

Sorry I can't help you out on this, but Braden will chime in when he can, he's been hit and miss on here lately.
