Hey braden so i am in the process of setting up the relay kits for the new headlights. Just wondering those bmw headlights only come with 2 wires ground and power, now the old headlights come with 3 wires, two 12volt hot and one ground. now what wire do i hook up to the new bmw headlights?

The extra 12v wire is for the high beam filament inside the low beam bulb.  When you turn your high beams on your high beam bulbs light up and so does an extra filament inside your low beam bulbs to make them brighter.  If your using a dual element bulb in the bmw housing (you can do this) then you would wire one side to the low filament and one side to the high filament, easy as that (They both use the same single ground) Are you wiring up hids?

yes i am wiring up HID's. Thats my biggest issue. I have the same lights that you installed on you datsun. If you can send me a little diagram i would really appreciate it. What i did the first time around was connect both 12v reds to the bmw 12v bulb and when i would turn on my high beams the fuse would brake. So there for i have no idea really how to wire it up.

YOU ONLY USE THE LOWBEAM SIDE WIRE.  THE HIGH BEAM HOT IS NOT USED.  Its as easy as that.

refer to this diagram and you CANT do it wrong.  The only difference is that your not connecting The green wire in the diagram to the BMW lights.  The only hot  that you need is the  pink wire coming from the low/high relay to power up your ballasts its so easy.

Mine is still in the mock up stage.  Once I get the 240sx on the pavement the 620 is gonna be on the front burner.

Hi Braden,

Sorry to bump an old thread but I have questions about your old L20B believe it or not lol.

1. You had the isky stage 3 cam right? How was it getting the truck up to speed driving normally?(Was it a complete dog down low?)

2. Did you also get the isky lash caps and upgrade the valvesprings when you installed the cam?

Thank you sir
