thanks braden, i try to teach them virtues and expressions that aren't passed down anymore like 'an honest day's work' or 'earning your keep' and 'put PRIDE in all of your work' don't do things half a s s or a s s backwards. i always tell them 'things' aren't important, people are. ok, 'nuff rambling.
windshield gaskets are usually listed on ebay. i would order from Route 66 or another US seller. the gaskets from thailand are worthless, they start to crack after a year or so. been there, done that. |

the only updates i have is the roof has been smoothed out & bodyworked. i work on it when time allows but check this out, here's pics of what happened to a friend's wagon about 3 months ago when it got sandwiched between a Dodge Neon and a full size truck.
![]() ![]() ![]() the Neon slid under the 510 lifting it forward smashing it into the truck in front. these pics were taken about early April when i happened to be in his neighborhood. at 1st he said it was a total loss because of the crushed gas tank, rear hatch smashed, quarter panel damage, rollpan folded under, radiator support bent back, also the right rear passenger door unable to close properly. i convinced him that it was repairable and gave him some tips and that motivated him to save it. the next 3 pics were taken about 2 weeks ago when he and his son came over to visit. needless to say, they're doing great so far. quarter panel just needs straightening. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hate to see a Datsun in pain. They did a great job on repairs. Atleast, by the looks of it, there was more damage on the front. Fixing the hatch area would be alot more work.

Pooor goon. I hate to see the day when my truck is in an accident, I think I might go flipping insane and be on national news. Ill probably run to the mountains ad turn into a golem like creature.

Rusty, fortunately he has spare 510 parts from building wagons years ago. he replaced the damaged parts but didn't do any bodywork at all besides hammering/straightening some metal and some rattle can black. IIRC, he hooked up his Ford truck to the rear of the wagon and pulled the rollpan back out. the hatch doesn't latch good and 1/4 panel needs to be pulled out more but it's good for now until it comes across a frame machine.
Braden, he was sick too when it happened but glad nobody got seriously hurt. He was frustrated seeing it crushed while it sat in front of his house that he almost junked it. I'm glad he saved it. |

Hey guys, found time so got some work done. Rebuilt the carb and added an electric choke. Swapped in a thinner adapter plate and replaced that short braided coolant line on the intake manifold right below the carb, thanks to fsuTom. The braided line literally crumbled when I squeezed it, so it got replaced with a new rubber hose. After some tuning the engine fires up 1st crank and it now idles nicely at 800 rpms, all this with a points dizzy......lol
