Here's my build thread for my 69 521 nicknamed Chloe. I purchased the car in July of 2014, but haven't started working on the truck until my garage or "man cave" was enclosed for the winter months. She needs a lot of rust repair and a fresh coat of paint, but I'm confident I can have her ready for next year to attend car shows.

Excellent, are you going to restore for a stock look?

Looks like you got a good deal on Chloe. I don't see any rust, so I guess its in the floor boards? Hows she runnin? Great lookin start for a project. Keep us updated.

Thanks guys. Overall the truck is a 6/10. Majority of rust is unseen unless you look under the car. Yes the floor pan is pretty "holy" and the severe rust is located on the rear frame rails under the bed. I just took the bed off this past weekend, and here is a picture of some of the major rust spots.

Yep, you got alittle rot on the frame. Most of the time they hold up pretty good. That frame rusted out like about all the 90's model Nissan trucks I've had, lol. Whats your plans on repairing the frame?

Does anyone have tailgate latches or factory round mirrors for my 521 truck?

I appreciate the positive comments gents. Rusty My plan is to cut out and weld in patches onto the frame. There's only one spot on the frame where its rusted on all four sides (in the pickup section of the left frame rail) where I'll cut out completely and hand fab a piece of rail. I watched my boss tackle his 66 Galaxie 500 project where the frame bent in half when we took of the body, so this will be a cake walk.

I finished tearing down the rear frame rail section. The shackles didn't budge so I had to cut them off with the saw, but the leaf springs came off with ease, and so did the rear axle. After I cut the U bolts. My girlfriend wanted to help out in the garage too, so I had her clean up the underside of the bed. She took a drill and brush attachment and knocked the scale of rust off the surface. Hoping to have that ready to be coated along with the frame.

Good progress there Chadwick. I'd wire brush the bottom of the bed and then POR 15 that bad boy and she'll be solid with no rust for many, many years.

This past week I had some time off from work, and used it to finish my rear frame rail replacement. My boss came and helped me measure the frame so it was within specification, and then I welded in the new section, and also patched some holes. Lastly I coated everything in POR 15 to finish off the repair. Hoping to have some parts arrive so I can reassemble the rear end, and have the truck back on four wheels.

Here are some pics of the progress.

Exciting! I remember redoing Ole Blue, get something cleaned up and painted, then start putting her back together, one piece at a time. Good work.

Thanks guys. I'm taking a break for now because I have a full work load at the body shop, and I'm waiting for parts to arrive to finish the rear end.
