My fiancé surprised me this valentines day with a new 5 speed 620. It is in beautiful condition and she got it for only $650!!. It runs and has a couple quirks but I love little trucks so I don't mind it at all. Right now my only plans are to fix it up a little, the drivers side brake grabs a little, the idle is too low to the point that it dies without feathering the gas, I need to replace the starter I think it has a bent bendix and I would like to get power steering for it but thats not a priority right now. I'm pretty excited for this truck, I have had other little trucks but datsuns are where it all began!

Learned a couple things, about the motor it's an L18 with an L20 head, i always thought that a bigger head meant less compression... Maybe I'm just dumb. Also the guy has no idea what kind of tranny he put in it, it has a weird shift pattern, reverse is where 1st usually is the. 5th is where reverse usually is. I asked the import mechanic if he might know and he didn't. It bolts right up to the motor though and fits like a glove do you guys know anything about it? Other than this I fixed the minor things in the previous post and it drives nice the shifts are really short though.

Awesome man thank you very much, I think I'm gonna try painting it in the coming months and fixing some of the body damage I don't know of I need to keep an eye out for an L18 head or not. Couldn't hurt I suppose

Welcome to DMT, nice Valentine's gift. So, when's the wedding?
The US L-18 came with an open chambered A87 head. In 620 pickups it came out only for the 1974 model. What head do you have?
The transmission you describe is usually called the dog leg 5 speed usually found in early 200sx or 610s.

I was told it's an L20 head, is there a way to quickly identify the head? Any markings or something?
