since i am technically not a "new" member anymore i will continue with my build thread here. and a link to my intro thread  so everyone can see the time line of my build. since i did not have a pic of my truck after i painted it, i found one and here it is. i hope Bleach doesn't mind, since it is my truck. Wink

but as of last Saturday, i lost the brakes in the truck AGAIN. i think the master cyl went out. thats ok though as i have another car running again. my 93 Passat is going great guns again so i have something at least halfway, ok FULLY, comfortable to drive for work. i will be gathering parts to fix the truck soon but i am really thinking about doing a disk brake swap on it so that might be a while before its fixed to my liking. we shall see though.

as of right now my 73 is down for brake issues. right front is locked up and i have a feeling i have a bad wheel cyl on that corner. but i am at the point right now that i cant decide if i should do a front disk conversion or just rebuild the drum brakes AGAIN. i kinda need the truck but i hate the fact of having to fight with the brakes all the time. i really should just fix the brakes that are there but finding wheel cyls nowadays is not the easiest thing to do. plus i need to get my slots redone. the chrome is coming off and they are lookin like crap. i have one on a flat which sucks but what ya gonna do right?

The disk conversion seems pretty straight forward and well worth the monies in my opinion, but I have yet to do it.  I'm rebuilding the drum brakes on my 521 but the next time they have to be rebuilt you better believe I'm going disk.

that was my thinking. gather parts but i an not entirely sure how i want to go about it. if i want to just get adapter brackets and keep the kingpins or go with custom control arms and use D21 drop spindles.

well i decided i was gonna rebuild the front drums AGAIN. i think i have a warped drum, so i am gonna take the rear drums i have off the 78 (new) and put em on. but before i can even think of doing that, i need ot put a new brake line in (both actually), new hardware and i figure i'll throw in some new fluid as well.  it kinda sucks not having much $$ to fix things.

yes it does suck, turn the drums if you can, some napa stores will do it cheap, adjust the shoes out properly and you would be suprised how adding new hoses can help.  I have a bunch of front brake parts if you need them.
