I like the 520's front end to be honest but I don't the head ache I will encounter making the engine swap.
I sold the 83 hilux for $2900. There's a 520 being sold in Ukiah, CA unrestored and had one owner with 51k original miles. He wants $2800 for it but Id have to fly over there and drive it back for 10 hours.

There also a 521 2 hours from here being sold to me for $2900 with little cancer on the door and bondo on hood but looks straight and he has the interior done but not original and I think it's really not my style.

So by looking at these you can tell how much my budget is. Ill pay an extra few hundred to get it shipped.

Nice, I will keep my eye out, lots of weird companies coming across datsuns lately...  I'd say you'd pay 800 or better to get something shipped coast to coast.

Seems in general, in the last year to two toyota's and datsuns have started climbing a steep path in price!

I wish I have all the skills and a place to work on these trucks. I envy those guys here that bought theirs for less than $1000 but the demand here is great and supply is less so the prices are in that range here. Most likely I'd buy the one in Ukiah but I'm trying to figure out a way to transport it here without spending too much money. He wants me to fly out there and pay him cash and do all the transactions in person which I don't blame him. But flying there and flying back is already gonna be $300 something and shipping another $300 maybe... But I'm considering it. Maybe someone here can give me a better advice since I haven't done any deals like this before.

I've traveled 8 hours before to look at a truck that was supposed to be in excellent condition.  Luckily I turned it into a weekend trip and did some sightseeing because the truck wasn't good at all.

Basically if it's what you want, ask the guy for full disclosure, TONS of pictures.  Be prepared to pay asking price.  Make it clear that it's a big distance to travel and you just need to make sure it's in the condition you desire.  Then if you get there and it isn't, don't buy it or use it as negotiation.

That's my two pennies.

Looks like I'll drive up north California to pick one up for $2800 not including gas... It's gonna be 4 full tank of gas back and forth. I'd like to know if anyone within the area that has a better truck and price I'd love to talk to you asap. $2800 for a 520 is pretty steep :(

I've got this 69 521 low mileage, original engine/trans. Been repainted, change the bench seat for better one, floor boards and rockers are solid. Runs like a top. I live in South East Washington. If your interested. PM me and I'll give you my cell # and we can go from there.

I've got a bunch more pic's if you need mour.
