Okay, I'm having some troubles with my conversion to the Matchbox Distributor.  I'm reading some Jason Grey information right now and will post more about my problem in just a minute.

Here is my current setup:
1 - Matchbox Distributor from a 200sx (Part Number: 22100 W8801) E12-80 ICM

Okay, I'm getting spark to the plugs but the motor just isn't firing at all.  I know it's getting fuel and air.  I made sure the #1 cylinder was at TDC on compression stroke and made sure to note where my #1 plug wire on the new distributor goes.  Made sure that the firing order is 1-3-4-2 and that it's CCW.  Still not firing at all.  Won't even hit a lick, period.

My wiring on coil consists of this:
>Negative Coil Terminal Wiring:  C to (-) coil terminal,
>Positive Coil Terminal Wiring:  B to (+) coil terminal, Black wire with White stripe from battery to (+) coil terminal
>Ballast resistor is removed from circuit and wires are taped off.

hmm,   i think i read somehwere that you still use the ballast resistor, but the resistor only has ann effect for the first few seconds on startup. that shouldnt matter,   if your #1 is at tdc then the distributor drive gear rod should be pointing at the 11:28 position, then put on the distributor, your rotor should NOT be pointing at the number one plug wire, it should be a little bit after it ( about 1/8th of a revolution, or about 12 degrees after the number one plug wire)   hence the accurate timing 12 degrees before top dead center.      in a nutshell if your engine is at top dead center, then the plug should have fired 12 degrees ago, so turn the distributor so that the rotor is pointing about 12 degrees after the number one plug wire.   other than that i dont know why your engine wont hit????  if you are infact getting spark it may just not be at the right time, if you can get it to start make sure you check the timing with a light (im sure you already know this)    i hope this helps,   hey EZ how about some mor epics of your truck!!!! ive only seen like 5 pics you have ever posted!!!!

Braden, if I use the ballast resistor it will only be receiving 6-8V versus 12-14V without it.  When you say 11:28 where is 12?  Would you happen to have a picture of this?

I understand what you mean  about the 12º BTDC.  So could I, in theory, turn the engine to TDC and put the crank at 12º then it should be pointing exactly at #1?

Thanks a lot Braden!  I will load up some pictures now, I think I just got to carried away with the Distributor idea and didn't post the pics I took after I washed it, lol!

Well, seems like if I'm getting spark across the plugs it should run..  I may just steal one of rusty's Matchbox Distributors as a known "good" distributor.  But that wouldn't solve much for my dizzy because mine is way different from his truck EDs.
