I say, don't take one of his brackets and do an exact copy, because of this problem right here. If you can modify and improve the design, then I don't see any problem in that. Not everyone will agree, but thats life.
What about on a 510 KA swap, don't you turn the crossmember around and do some kind off modification on it, Who was the first to do this? I have seen them for sell on ebay before.
Braden, if you can make them better, and cheaper, then I say go for it.

http://www.howstuffworks.com/patent.htm
nobody "owns" a patent to a general "brake caliper bracket" and specifically not on one like this, were not in the game to become a fortune 500 company here guys,we are just trying  to make a good thing available to us at a reasonable cost without having a tyrant or a monopoly keep us from making our own version.      this can be exemplified by almost any and all products such as tennis shoes, cars, hell breakfast cereal even.   we WILL NOT COPY ANYONES DESIGN.  That i promise but we WILL use their idea and improve upon it to our benefeit, limited to our personal non-financial benefeit and not in a way that will hurt the original inventors profit. there isnt a huge market for these things guys but there is enough market for us to be able to choose who and where we get our product at a price that is at a reasonable level. its simple business and laws of supply and demand.

Dang, I knew theyed be crying about this. Apperently he didn't take the time to read thru the thread and automaticaly came out blasting you and acting childish by calling you a homo.
How come theres a $60.00 difference in the front and back brackets? I guess more time was put in to one or the other.
For him to think that these are his and only his to be made and sold, he is sadly mistaken.
Now I have to get a 77 and back front end so I can start working on this,  so when you get started on this Braden, contact me and we'll get this done.
So everyone knows, I do not have a set of B's brackets and will not be getting any to go by.

Hey guys, please don't blow this out of proportion, mklotz and beebani have placed a lot of time, money and effort in their exact designs.  I see nothing wrong with reverse engineering.  But your product must have changes in design to better the product, afaik, in order to patent.  I have several VERY good lawyer friends that would advise in these situations so no one is in hot water here.  I don't have any problem implementing a different design at all.  I have access to a lot of machining devices and with a decent design I can produce a set of my own just as any other human being can!
