Does anyone remember this? In the 70's Dick Dean sold a booklet on how to put a 32 Ford body on a Datsun truck chassis. this was all I could find. Always the innovator, Dick marketed the "Dot Rod" kit car using the chassis and power train from a Datsun. The information packet sold for $10 and gave instructions on building a glass or steel '32-'34 Ford. If it was built correctly, this is how it looked. |

Can't say I have heard of it but that would make interesting reading. I love hot rods and the bare bones engineering in them.
There is a pickup in Meadows of Dan, Va., that is on a Datsun truck frame/engine/driveline that is made entirely of wood! Body, doors, bed, dash, hubcaps, hood ornament, mirror frames, door handles like round door knobs, interior panels and in the back a log chain about 6-8' long carved from one piece of wood.
The owner bought it from the builder and said he would sell for $12.000 if anybody is interested. Just go to the Poor Farmers Market in MOD and ask. They would know him. Edited by Pa's Truck - 22 Dec 2010 at 9:04pm |

i'd like to see that. I've wondered several times what a Datsun woodie would look like. Built on a 620 chassis. From the windshield back would be made of wood. It's been done to VWs and other cars. |

I did a quick photochop just because.. I didn't spend a lot of time on it in case everyone hated it. But I came up with a 620 woody. It could be shortened and made a 2 door. Whatdayathink? Too much like a Wagoneer? I can draw it better on paper. I may try that. Edited by Pharouh - 23 Dec 2010 at 6:06pm |

Thanks slam! Yeah,a darker color would look better. Even a dark green or blue. That picture was handy so I used it. Have a nice Christmas! |

You mean frame? If I understand right,it's a pickup frame. I pm'ed a guy on jalopy journal that had an old post about the brochure. Haven't heard from him yet. May not. |
