LOL!
That might be the perfect metaphore for why I'm considering selling. It should not have taken such time and effort. An individual with any mechanical aptitude would have the truck on the road by now.

There is nothing I see on that truck that time, patience & money can not fix.  On Mine from time to time I have to step away from it, let it sit, go play and then after that I go back to it not so over whelmed and do a few other things.  If you read through my build thread it is obvious when I reach a point of dispair, I work on something else & the are sometimes large gaps of time in between posts.  I have to look at my build as recreational therapy or it does get overwhelming.  I too at one time during my 2 years plus of unemployment considered selling it.  But now that I am getting closer to a drivable truck I am glad I did not sell it.

You accomplished something that a lot of other people would not have, you got the rear drums off.  If you can accomplish this then you can do the rest.

I am not saying it is downhill from here but you have conquered your first major challenge.  Please keep going on this truck.  I hope to meet you and see you truck in person some day.

Remember to take your time with it & enjoy it.

CMJ, i totally agree with Charlie. in fact, Datstraction is easy compared to my '76 'son-of-Datsunstein' project and the only reason why it's taking me so long is exactly what Charlie said, it's overwhelming. so i'll take long breaks in between and jump right back in when the time is right.
don't sell or you'll regret it. you're gonna end up spending more if u find another 1.
it's cheaper to keep her.

I am just sharing with you what I and all other car enthuisiasts that do project vehicles go through.

And from this reply to my earlier post I take it that you are going to keep plugging away at it and not admit total defeat and sell it.

To give you an example of my situation, my painter body man came over today & looked at my truck for an estament.  He looked at my welding and said it will cost you more to have me fix that than if you would have had me do it in the first place.  I said that is OK you were not here when I needed it done.  I do my best which sometimes is not to good but I make it work.  He is going to clean up my welding mess and make my truck pretty.  I told Kevin my painter that is why I pay you the big bucks. LOL

It is all a learnung process.  My next build I will just tac weld everything together & have Kevin do the finish welding.

Keep in there!  It's soo easy to get overwhelmed!  Especially with something you don't know much about...  That truck is in great condition.  It just needs a good cleaning!  You might consider cleaning it up some!  Usually when I get frustrated on mechanical items I focus on making it look good!  I will clean up the mud, grime, dust and such!  Makes me feel better when I can actually see the progress, lol!

Seriously, make yourself a list on what bothering you on the truck!  List them on here and we can help you address those issues the "Datsun" way!!
