actually the heater is original. i tried to refurbish it when i bought the truck but i bent/broke the toggle that turns the flow of coolant on/off so i took it out and fixed what i could.

i have another nihon heater which i will get to at a later date and see if it is salvageable but in california, it is never really cold, so i will wait for a good time so i can give that project more attention.

side note: those hoses are from some pool supply stuff i got at home depot. i liked the blue and it actually works. Wink

UPDATE:
here are the pics of the heater

after

That's such a beauty!  Glad to see you here Burrito, you're going to love it here!

There's nothing like taking a datsun out and getting an "Man that is a rad truck!  What is it?" response out of someone!!!

What/who got you into datsuns, especially this 320?

Ezcruiser,

what/who got me into datsuns was wierd. i was actually looking for a nissan xe pick up which i wanted to lower and add rally's (ratrod theme) but i also was into 62-64 chevy nova's and wanted a classic car to cruise around and take my daughter. well, one day i was on craigslist and did my search and this truck popped up. i spoke to the guy, met with him, and gave me a respectable offer that my girlfirend approved of. haha. got it trailered home and did some cleaning since it was running and then took it online and didnt realize the impact the datsun NL seires had on the datsun community. since then, took it to a couple of shows but lost my transmission/clutch a long the way so i decided to do a mild restore. in a nut shell, make the truck road worthy and safe for me to drive.

i still love the nova and hope to have one some day but i love this truck too. this truck rare and though there are a lot of them out there, there isnt many running. plus, this truck has some smooth lines and thats what i like in a classic vehicle.

i'll get of my soapbox now but i have no regrets of owning this truck and hopefully get it back on the road to represent Datsuns and owners of Datsuns.

and i stand by my last statement. this build is for my daughter first but it shares the proudness of owning a datsun for every other owner out there.

got working on the truck again... painted the engine and wrinkle painted the valve cover. i wasnt too excited about the results but i am content. the problem was my media blaster which was having low pressure. ended up loosing 85% of my media and trying to finish off the engine with the rest. i spoke to a mechanic i know and he said to try walnut shells which i may do when i get my blast cabinet up and running. my goal is to make it to jccs this year. crossing my fingers.

thanks EzCruiser...

went to the pomona swapmeet a few weeks ago and i ran into an idea i got from a few VW's. it is the two tone paint job for the rims. i made a rough practice rim as i'm still learning how to paint, strip, clean stuff.

does anyone have this option for their truck or any constructive criticism? i thought it looked kinda cool.

here is the before. since my media blaster is acting weird i used aircraft remover. good stuff.
primered:
finished prouct with the tape off:
with the dog dish on:
heres a head to head with the original rim and the painted rim. i didnt clear coat it because i just wanted to mess around and see what it would look like:

I think that's a nice touch!  I would try to get closer to the color of the white walls instead of the gray.
