Well timing chain is home. now for exhaust studs. I'll get it together soon enough, and hopefully back in about next weekend. it'll be badass when its finally done, just have to find my alignment  tool for the clutch.

so far so bad. I haven't had much time to work on the beast. heads on, chain is in and its timed. that's about as far as its gotten. timing cover is painted, I couldn't clean it up enough for my liking, so it went high temp aluminum. the timing inspection cover is now the rising sun. the oil pan, motor mount and alt brackets, and both crank and water pump pulleys are high temp black as well. I got to looking at it after I bolted the head onto the nice gold block and the head, although scrubbed clean, still looked nasty so its getting shot with the high temp aluminum as well once i have some more time. i MAY squirt the intake and thermostat housing as well but i dunno. kinda want to see h ow it will look against the painted head.

I will also be shooting the exhaust manifold in VHT Flameproof super high temp black but it needs a few eat cycles, up to 600* or so the label says, to be fully ready for the task it will endure. any ideas? i dont really want to use my oven to do this, and although i can do it on vehicle, i dont want to ahve to wait to long before heating it.

Sounds like you need to give some aluminum brightener a shot.  It will clean ANY aluminum to a shiny new luster.  Its some nasty stuff, it can eat your bones!

Huh, might have to give ita shot. Where can I get some? And will it effect the paint that's on the block since I already have the head bolted to the block?

yes it can affect paint. especially clear coat.  Aluminum brightener is available at NAPA and also purple power makes some. Its about 15$ a gallon.  It is a blend of special acids and detergents.  And it WILL eat your bones.  Its also as good at turning aluminum black as it is making it shine. Follow the directions carefully.

well guys, i have been working on the evil one. the kid and i yanked the fenders, front valance, grille and lights, and the main engine harness to fix some things. also while i was in there, we treated what little rust there was, sanded down the brake and clutch lines to make them sorta nice, replaced the horn wire from the relay to the horns, shortened up the headlight relay harness, and painted the engine bay and core support. i still have an assload to do, but it'll some together. any idea where to get teh harness ties so i can run the harness again properly????
