I'm ready to pop cab off of the chassis on my parts 320 and need some help with steering box.

How hard is it to uncouple?
Any tips?
What do you not do?
Where to mark and how once I put it back together?
Special tools besides a 2 lbs sledge?

Be on all day. Tak'n the '65 for a spin. All new brakes and hydraulics! And yes, the emergency brake works too.

i am not familiar with the 320 but if its like a 620 DO NOT take the steering box apart! take the steering wheel off and unbolt from the floor/firewall  and unbolt the box from the chassis and drag link then remove the colum with the box as a unit

Still on the never ending quest to squeeze more from an L series

Ah, so that is why my brother has the chest impalers still attached to his English car's rack and pinions!

But really, that much of a PITA? The worm gear set up looks pretty much like my 510s' (your 620's) and the manual makes it seem pretty simple, though I wonder how you put it back together and align it and all.

Pulling it out and down through the firewall looks pretty easy. I plan on rebuilding the front suspension and recording sizes, dimensions and where I get the new parts from to post later.

thanks
